Advertising Account Executive

Record Newspapers, LLC was established in 2015 to provide local news coverage to communities in Northern Oakland and Macomb counties. Since 2015, we’ve powered storytelling that highlights the unique spirit of neighborhoods like Romeo, Rochester, Shelby Township, and more. Our flagship—the weekly Record newspaper—lands right in the heart of local homes and hotspots, backed by 24 retail locations, eight coin-op stands, and a tribe of loyal readers. We also produce a lineup of must-read special editions: Community Guide magazine, event guides for epic summers and cozy holidays, spotlight features on local graduates, and the can’t-miss Romeo Peach Festival and Armada Fair issues.

We seek interns who are interested in learning how advertising plays a key role in generating the revenue necessary to sustain a local newspaper. You will gain knowledge in all areas of advertising sales: customer relations, marketing, campaign development, graphics and copy layout, and how a winning result leads to additional sales! Hours are flexible. Expenses paid and compensation will be paid on a commission basis.

Qualifications include:

·                Currently enrolled in a degree program (preferred: communication, journalism, public relations, business, marketing, or related fields)

·                Interest in advertising, marketing, and media sales

·                Strong communication skills

·                Creative thinker who enjoys brainstorming and developing new ideas

·                Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

·                Previous experience in customer service, retail, or school clubs/organizations is a bonus but not required

·                Familiarity with communities in Northern Oakland and Macomb counties is an asset

·                Legal U.S. resident, valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, and at least 18 years of age.

If you believe in local stories, thrive on creative teamwork, and want the kind of experience that stands out, Record Newspapers wants to meet you. Let’s make news, make connections, and make a lasting impact—together. Send resume to Christopher Rose at crose@myrecordnewspaper.com.
