Buying Research Intern

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)

Compensation: $16.50/hour

Duration: January 2026 – March 2026

Hours: Part-time, approximately 15–25 hours per week

 

About the Role

We are seeking a Buying Research Intern to support the Fashion Week credentialing and relations team by identifying key retail buyers, department store representatives, and fashion industry executives for show invitations and access management.

This role is ideal for someone with a keen eye for fashion business, strong research skills, and an interest in understanding how buyers, retailers, and brands connect during Fashion Week. You will play an important role in expanding our buyer network and ensuring that the right industry professionals are included in our credentialing process.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Research fashion retailers, department stores, and boutique buyers across major markets (North America, Europe, and Asia).
  • Identify buyer contact information and categorize them by department (women’s, men’s, accessories, etc.).
  • Maintain and update detailed buyer databases to be integrated into the Fashion Week credentialing system.
  • Collaborate with the credentialing and PR teams to verify buyer credentials and assist with outreach.
  • Track relevant fashion retail trends and store profiles to inform invitation and access strategies.
  • Support the credentialing team with administrative duties related to buyer access and guest list management.

 

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or university (preferred majors: Fashion Business, Marketing, Merchandising, Communications, or related field).
  • Strong research and data organization skills with high attention to accuracy.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office; familiarity with Asana and LinkedIN Sales Navigator systems is a plus.
  • Excellent written communication and professional email etiquette.
  • Interest in fashion retail, merchandising, or brand relations.
  • Prior experience in fashion buying, showrooms, buyer marketplace or PR is a plus but not required.
