SPRING INTERN - Keep Douglasville Beautiful / Public Services

The City of Douglasville is now accepting applications for our Spring Internship Program!  

This learning experience affords the students a view of the inner workings of city government. Each intern will have a variety of responsibilities and assigned projects that relate to their field of study. Each intern must be open to new ideas and suggestions, and be committed to completing the internship in its entirety. Interns also have the opportunity to participate in some special activities depending on the department assigned.

Internship Opportunity:

Selected students will participate in a meaningful and challenging 20-week spring internship that will allow each intern to have exposure to different facets of local government, and receive critical skills, and career and personal development training. Interns will work on a wide variety of tasks and projects within a cross-functional team of professionals and get exposure to leaders within the organization.  Please feel free to apply to no more than TWO (2) internships. 

Typically, 40 hours per week; The rate of pay will be paid at $20 per hour.

Internship Focus:

Support the key projects/programs of KDB, Adopt-A-Road, Farmers Market, Beautification, Adopt-A-Plot, and Administrative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Update and maintain program spreadsheets, including post-cleanups, new organizations, and vendor information.
  • Contact and communicate with prospective and current participants, providing guidance on processes and forms.
  • Assist in the setup and coordination of the Church Street Farmers Market, including vendor space assignments and troubleshooting.
  • Manage social media accounts to promote events, vendors, and community programs.
  • Collect and process payments, tokens, and SNAP/EBT cards during market events, and assist vendors with cash-out procedures.
  • Support the planning, purchasing, and implementation of city beautification projects, including coordinating with volunteers and gathering supplies.
  • Collect, prepare, and distribute equipment for programs and events.
  • Send reminder communications to organizations and participants regarding upcoming events or cleanups.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including attending board meetings, responding to emails and phone calls, and supporting day-to-day operations.
  • Create certificates, promotional materials, and other documents as needed to recognize participants and support programs.

 Eligibility Requirements:   

  • United States citizen or authorized to work in the United States  
  • Current enrollment in a college, university, or technical school (Junior or Senior)
  • Current grade point average of 3.0 or better   

Preferred Skills:

Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), Adobe, Power Automate
