Transportation Planning Intern
Bolton & Menk is now accepting applications for our 2026 Transportation Planning internship. We are looking for interns to join our team in our Charlotte or Raleigh locations. What You Will Be Doing:
As a Transportation Planning Intern, you will be part of a fast-paced environment, supporting project teams for services related to transportation planning, bicycle/pedestrian planning, land use analysis and impacts, research, analysis and impacts, and environmental documents.
You will gain experience in the following areas:
Transportation planning methods and application at the local and regional level
Multimodal, active transportation and bicycle-pedestrian planning methods and design standards for application in urban and rural areas
Corridor and small area plans
Researching methods and statistical principles related to urban/rural growth and development
Methods and techniques of effective technical report preparation and presentations
Policy research and persuasive writing skills
Agency and stakeholder involvement techniques and processes
Project communications and public engagement methods and facilitation
What We Are Looking for:
Degree Programs: Selected candidates will be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in urban planning, public policy, geography, public Administration or other closely related field from an accredited college.
Minimum Cumulative GPA: 2.8 GPA; Desired GPA 3.2 or above
Students must possess a valid driver’s license and their own transportation or have ability to use public transportation. You will be reimbursed for business-related travel.

Each year we look for variety of experience, education, and ability for our student intern pool. Relocation and housing are not included.
