About the Company
D&D Motor Systems, Inc. is a trusted leader in the design and manufacturing of high-performance electric DC motors and controllers for a wide range of e-mobility and industrial applications, from golf carts and go-karts to mining vehicles and hydraulic lifts. As a veteran owned company with over 24 years of industry excellence, we combine innovative engineering with a hands-on, customer-first approach.
At D&D, we foster a collaborative environment that values creativity, autonomy, and practical problem-solving. Our culture is rooted in quality, innovation, and a commitment to empowering the electric vehicle community. You’ll be joining a small, tight-knit team where your contributions will directly impact on the business and our customers.
About the Role
We are seeking a driven and versatile Computer Science Intern to join our engineering and operations team. In this hybrid technical/business role, you will work alongside experienced engineers and fellow co-ops to improve our web infrastructure, develop internal automation tools, and support ecommerce operations.
You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the company’s websites, optimizing SEO and Google Analytics tracking, and building tools for marketing automation, order management, and customer portals.
This role offers the opportunity to work across the full stack using modern web development technologies including HTML, PHP, JavaScript, MySQL, Firebase, TypeScript, and Angular. You’ll gain practical experience building scalable web features, integrating APIs, managing cloud tools, and streamlining internal workflows through software automation.
Responsibilities
- Engineer full-stack web features and functionality using a modern tech stack, including React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL, to deliver a seamless user experience.
- Enhance website visibility and performance by systematically updating meta tags, refining site architecture, and improving core web vitals to strengthen SEO rankings.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to support dynamic frontend content and efficiently store application data using Firebase and PHP.
- Integrate backend services to synchronize internal inventory and pricing systems with external e-commerce platforms like PayPal, Amazon, and eBay.
- Leverage AI-powered tools for prompt engineering to accelerate development workflows, including code generation, debugging, and optimization.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s (Junior/Senior) or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or any related field
- Proficiency in at least one mainstream language - C/C++, Java or Python
- Experience with modern web technologies, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, or frameworks like React or Angular is preferred.
- Familiarity with backend services like Firebase, Node.js, PHP or other serverless/cloud-based tools like AWS, GCP, or Azure is a plus
- Experience with SEO concepts, Google Analytics, Google Ads, or Rank Tracker tools is advantageous
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Prior professional experience is a plus, but not required
- Candidate MUST be a resident of New York state or be willing to become a resident before starting the internship. Requirements are a New York State license and a formal Lease or Housing Agreement. This is so we can get a partial re-imbursement from NYSERDA. Any offer is contingent upon getting that NYSERDA approval. It is our goal to hire the candidate full time upon completion of the approximate 3 month internship.
What You’ll Gain
- Hands-on experience across the full software development lifecycle
- Practical exposure to ecommerce systems, analytics, marketing, and internal tooling
- Direct involvement in projects that impact both customer experience and internal operations
- Mentorship from engineers and business owners in a collaborative, small-team environment
- A strong portfolio of real-world contributions in web development and process automation
Compensation & Schedule
- Hourly Rate: $ 20/hour (No funds available for Relocation or Lodging)
- Total hours/week: 40 hours (On Site ONLY – NO Remote Work)
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Start Date: January/2026 (Minimum internship period is 4 months)
- Location: Syracuse, New York. In person (no possibility for remote work)
