Following an enriching orientation program, Interns will begin working on their day-to-day responsibilities, with support from colleagues serving as both instructors and mentors throughout the internship program.  As a way to help maximize your experience with us, Interns will receive formal performance reviews.

In addition to working on projects that incorporate research, analysis and recommendations, Interns are challenged to think creatively, offer their input, and add value to the team from day one. As with everyone at Jefferies, Interns are expected to pursue their projects with excellence, a collaborative spirit, and with the highest levels of integrity.

What we look for in a candidate

We look for candidates who are eager to make an impact to our clients by doing real, hands-on work. Successful Jefferies Interns are able to multitask and manage a variety of projects simultaneously. Candidates must demonstrate professionalism and relationship management skills together with strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills.  The work is fast paced, challenging, and intellectually stimulating. The ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, be adaptable and work both independently and as part of a team are essential traits of a successful candidate. Candidates should have a strong academic background and be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree or equivalent program.

Desired Background and Skills

  • Candidates pursuing a Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical field
  • Expected graduation between December 2026 – June 2027
  • Technical Skills
    • Programming knowledge: Java, Visual Basic, C#, .Net, Matlab, SQL, C++, KDB
    • Data: Data profiling, analysis, design/modelling, development
    • BI/Reporting
    • Bloomberg API knowledge is a plus
    • Database knowledge: Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server
    • Proficiency in Python, familiarity with frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex for building and orchestrating AI agents
    • Understanding of LLM (Large Language Model) concepts, embeddings, vector databases, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
    • Experience with low-code/no-code tools or workflow automation platforms (e.g. Power Automate)
    • Comfort with APIs, RESTful integrations, and prompt engineering principles
    • Familiarity with cloud environments (Azure, AWS) and GIT/version control
  • General Skills
    • Ability to learn and adapt quickly as you collaborate with others in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
    • Motivated candidates with a desire to pursue a Technology based career in Financial Services upon graduation and strong curiosity about capital markets; interest in how AI can drive operational and strategic efficiencies in Investment Banking
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Summer Analyst and Associate Interns may be placed in one of the following teams within Information Technology: Our business aligned areas such as Fixed Income, Equities, IB Technology, CRM & Analytics, Risk Management, or Corporate, or our horizontal functions like Infrastructure, Security and Platform Reliability. A brief description of each group is provided below for your reference:  

IB TECH, CRM & ANALYTICS

IB Tech, CRM & Analytics is a strategic, agile and cross-functional team responsible for leading the firm’s global digitalization effort through innovative technology, data science and deep analytics. The team partners with all client-facing business units and corporate functions, as well as industry experts, to build transformational technology impacting investment banking, trading, sales, and research teams to drive revenue, maximize efficiency, and optimize client service. We are at the forefront of Jefferies’ cloud initiative, leveraging best-in-class cloud-based technologies to replace legacy on-premises solutions to provide intelligent trend insights, actionable opportunities, decision support, and transparency into all client and business-related activities. We are looking for Summer Analysts to join our team and help create the next generation of tools for Global Markets and Investment Banking. This experience offers a unique opportunity to work with Software Developers, UI Designers, Product Managers and Business Analysts on exciting new technologies such as microservices, containerization, SaaS, CI/CD and serverless utilizing AWS and Salesforce clouds.

FIXED INCOME

The Jefferies Fixed Income Information Technology team is a ~200-person organization servicing Rates, Credit, MBS, and FX client bases. We are a high-performing and efficient operating technology workforce which is client focused & aligned, technologically proficient, knowledgeable of the business, with a focus on execution & delivery to our associated businesses and/or corporate stakeholders globally. We provide best in class technology and alignment to associated business users, maintain a highly controlled production environment, a forward-looking change portfolio to support business growth, while being fiscally responsible. We are looking for passionate problem solvers to join a collaborative team that promotes constructive, respectful, and open intellectual discourse to play an instrumental role in supporting our Fixed Income trading businesses. EQUITIES

Our global Equity Technology team is building cutting-edge technology solutions spanning across the full spectrum of equity products globally: Cash, Portfolio trading, Algo trading, Central risk book, listed and OTC derivatives, convertible bond, equity swap, and ETF & basket trading covering multi asset sales & trader order management, quantitative trading, real time position and risk management, AI/ML data analytics, trade lifecycle management, and regulatory & customer reporting. Our team is global and located in all major trading hubs/cities of the world operating in a 24x7 follow-the-Sun model. We use a spectrum of development frameworks and programming languages including Python, Java, C++, C#, full stack visualization dashboards implementations with HTML5 & D3 in addition to the cloud on a global scale to provide capacity, performance, and resilience with cutting-edge high-performance messaging & in memory databases. CORPORATE

Within Jefferies Information Technology, Corporate Technology covers enterprise level groups including Operations, Compliance, Regulatory, Legal, Human Resources, Finance, Marketing, and Enterprise Data Services. In this group, analysts will have an opportunity to develop technology solutions that provide the backbone of Jefferies’ core business functions. This includes everything from clearing and settlement of trading activity, enterprise data management and analytics, surveillance of employees and business activities, regulatory inquiries, corporate finance, and human resources. This is an opportunity to learn and contribute to next gen technologies and solutions including AI/ML, robotics process automation, low code/no code tools, cloud adoption, data warehousing, enterprise analytics, industry leading vendor platforms for the benefit of all of Jefferies’ business lines.

INFRASTRUCTURE AND SECURITY

As a part of Jefferies Information Technology, Summer Analysts may also be able to specialize in Infrastructure and Information Security. The Global Infrastructure organization builds and maintains the technology backbone that allows the enterprise to operate while working on innovating solutions such as Cloud Adoption and Network Resiliency. The Global Information Security organization protects Jefferies critical systems and sensitive information from internal and external cyber attacks through use of technology as well as efforts such as Cyber Data Analytics.

The salary for the Analyst role is $100,000 and Associate role is $120,000 (pro-rated for the 10-week internship program).
