Ballet Folklórico Instructor
Position Summary:
We are looking for a passionate and culturally knowledgeable Ballet Folklórico or Flamenco Dance Instructor to lead after-school dance classes for elementary and/or middle school students. This role is ideal for someone with basic to moderate experience in traditional Mexican or Spanish dance forms who enjoys working with youth and sharing cultural heritage through the performing arts.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and teach engaging, age-appropriate classes in Ballet Folklórico and/or Flamenco dance styles.
Teach basic to intermediate technique, rhythm, posture, and choreography.
Foster a welcoming and respectful learning environment for all students.
Prepare students for informal performances/showcases.
Maintain classroom discipline, encourage participation, and prioritize student safety.
Collaborate with program staff and school personnel as needed.
Take attendance and report any issues to program coordinators.
Qualifications:
Basic to moderate experience in Ballet Folklórico or Flamenco dance (performance or training).
Experience working with children or youth in an educational, recreational, or arts setting.
Strong communication and classroom management skills.
Enthusiastic, dependable, and passionate about cultural education through dance.
Ability to adapt instruction for different skill levels and age groups.
Background check clearance required.
CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred Skills (not required):
Experience with traditional costuming, props (e.g., fans, skirts, castanets), and music.
Experience choreographing or assisting in student performances.
Familiarity with audio equipment or music editing tools.
