Your Role

- Community Research: Research the cultural histories, linguistic practices, and educational experiences of major multilingual communities (e.g., Spanish-speaking, Chinese, Bengali, Arabic-speaking communities)
- Narrative Identification: Identify significant cultural and historical narratives that are often missing from standard curricula and explore how their absence impacts student identity and belonging
- Linguistic Asset Mapping: Research concepts like translanguaging, code-switching, and home language preservation; document how these linguistic practices function as intellectual and cultural assets
- Community Outreach Support: Help identify cultural centers, immigration coalitions, and community organizations to partner with; support outreach efforts for community leader interviews
- Curriculum Alignment: Validate course content to ensure it accurately represents cultural contexts and aligns with principles of culturally responsive-sustaining education (CR-SE)
