The Insmed Summer Internship Program gives students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a corporate environment in the pharmaceutical industry, receive mentoring from highly skilled professionals, and work on dynamic team projects. Our 2026 Summer Intern program is a full-time (40 hours per week), paid internship. The internship may present opportunities for rotational assignments within the function, and the intern will be assigned goals and objectives that will support the strategic business plan of the company.What You'll Do
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to work in AAV gene therapy research and development, encompassing the workflow from initial candidate design and production through experimental evaluation and data analysis, while maintaining documentation standards and fostering collaborative team communication.
You’ll also:
- Participate in designing, cloning, and producing novel Adeno-associated virus (AAV) gene therapy candidates using a broad range of molecular biology and tissue culture techniques
- Contribute to evaluating AAV gene therapy candidate properties and function using in vitro assays
- Assist in the development and execution of cell-based biological potency assays
- Analyze and interpret experimental data
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation
- Collaborate with team members on research and development initiatives
- Present findings and progress updates to the team
Who You Are
You are a current student working on a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or advanced level degree in molecular and cellular biology or related field.
You are or you have:
- Interested in pursuing a career in the pharmaceutical industry
- High level understanding of molecular biology techniques, recombinant DNA technology, bacterial and mammalian cell culture, and protein characterization techniques
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail, clarity, accuracy, and conciseness.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

- Ability to interact successfully in a dynamic and culturally diverse workplace.

- Undergraduate research laboratory experience
- Molecular biology laboratory techniques
- Cell culture experience
- Aseptic technique
Where You’ll Work
This role is based out of our Bridgewater, NJ RDL and requires full-time, in-person presence to support hands-on collaboration, access specialized equipment, and/or operational needs.
