Background

The Supplier Compliance Audit Network (SCAN) Association is a trade association committed to reducing audit and operational redundancy across global supply chains by enabling mutually acceptable compliance standards for importers and suppliers. The network fosters collaboration, transparency and efficiency in supply-chain compliance. Our objective is to drive consistent audit standards, share best practices, and empower member companies to improve supply-chain security and supplier performance.

Role Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic, creative, and motivated Marketing & Social Media Intern to support SCAN’s communications, brand awareness, member engagement, and digital presence. This is a part-time role (e.g., 15-20 hours per week) and ideal for a student or recent graduate who is passionate about supply-chain, compliance, trade associations and social media marketing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and scheduling social media content across SCAN’s channels (LinkedIn, X/Twitter, potentially Instagram) to increase engagement, brand visibility and membership value.
  • Help craft graphics, images or short video clips that reflect the SCAN brand and highlight member stories, audit-sharing benefits, events, news.
  • Monitor social media engagement and analytics (likes, shares, comments, follower growth) and provide regular reports and insights/recommendations for improvement.
  • Support email marketing and newsletter campaigns: drafting brief articles, member spotlights, upcoming event promotions, targeted communications.
  • Help maintain and update website content (news & events, member benefits, blog posts) as needed.
  • Assist with event promotion (webinars, workshops, SCAN committees) and creation of supporting collateral (social banners, digital flyers).
  • Perform any other marketing tasks or projects as assigned by the Executive Director. 

Key Requirements:

To support SCAN’s digital outreach and member recruitment, an ideal Marketing & Social Media Intern should meet the following criteria:

1. Education & Experience

  • Current enrollment in or recent graduate of a bachelor’s program in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related field
  • Previous internship or coursework in social media, digital marketing, or content creation (preferred but not required)

2. Core Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to adapt tone for LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook
  • Creative content creation: copywriting, basic graphic design and simple video editing 
  • Familiarity with social media scheduling tools and platform analytics dashboards
  • Basic understanding of digital-marketing concepts: SEO best practices, hashtag strategy, audience engagement metrics

3. Technical Competencies

  • Comfortable using Microsoft 365 (PowerPoint for slide decks; Excel for tracking metrics)
  • Experience with content-management systems (e.g., WordPress) for blog or news updates
  • Google Analytics or native social-media insights to monitor post-performance and compile reports

4. Personal Attributes

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage an editorial calendar and meet deadlines
  • Proactive, with a “test-and-learn” mindset to experiment with new formats and measure results
  • Collaborative team-player, open to feedback, able to liaise with SCAN and BSI staff and board members.
  • Passion for SCAN’s mission—interest in global trade, supply-chain security, and nonprofit governance

5. Availability & Logistics

  • Part-time (15–20 hours/week), with some flexibility to support events or time-sensitive campaigns
  • U.S. work authorization (for any in-office or hybrid requirements)
  • Willingness to attend virtual meetings and occasional in-person or trade-show events, as needed

6. Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with email-marketing platforms 
  • Basic HTML/CSS familiarity for newsletter or web updates
  • Exposure to paid-social or Google Ads campaigns
  • Multilingual skills to help tailor SCAN messaging for international audiences

Logistics

  • Location: Remote / Virtual (with possibility of occasional in-person meetings depending on region)
  • Hours: Approx. 15-20 hours per week 
  • Compensation: $30 per hour
  • Reporting to: Executive Director of SCAN
