Director Of Marketing Internship

Midstone Service Group – Director of Marketing Internship (Fall 2025)

Location: Remote | Commitment: 5–20 hours/week | Compensation: Unpaid

About Midstone & Our Thesis

Midstone Service Group is building a national platform of essential, government-mandated service businesses—via acquisition. We combine operational expertise with a deep understanding of regulation to keep communities safe, compliant, and running.

Our growing portfolio and proprietary software, Midstone OS, support industries like environmental testing, waste management, and facility maintenance — helping organizations stay ahead of regulation while operating more efficiently.

About the Internship

As the Director of Marketing Intern, you will take the lead in defining and communicating the Midstone brand — shaping how investors, founders, and partners see the firm. This is a strategic storytelling and brand development role, focused on building Midstone’s identity as a credible acquirer, trusted partner, and forward-thinking operator.

You’ll work directly with (Founder; HBS MBA; ex-Bain; acquired 3 companies) and collaborate across the investment and technology teams to transform internal progress into compelling external narratives.

This role sits at the intersection of investor relations, brand strategy, and communications — ideal for someone who’s creative, entrepreneurial, and excited to own real messaging initiatives in a high-growth private equity environment.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and evolve the Midstone brand identity — tone, messaging, and visual style across all materials.

Craft the firm’s story: position Midstone as the national leader in compliance-focused business ownership.

Investor communication:

Build and maintain the investor contact list in HubSpot.

Draft and send weekly investor updates (deal flow summaries, platform news, milestones).

Help design and refine Midstone’s investor decks and email templates.

Acquisition outreach:

Create the “Midstone Friends” communications program to stay top-of-mind with potential sellers.

Develop light, relationship-driven messaging that builds trust and keeps conversations warm.

Content and PR:

Write 1–2 monthly thought pieces or blogs for the Midstone website (on acquisitions, compliance, or leadership).

Collaborate with Zonta on media, partnerships, and storytelling opportunities.

Brand consistency:

Ensure alignment of visuals, copy, and tone across the website, investor decks, and outreach campaigns.

Oversee updates to the LinkedIn homepage (less frequent, higher-impact brand updates).

What You’ll Gain

Direct mentorship from Zonta Owens, working alongside the founder on firm-wide messaging and investor communications.

Real ownership of a company’s brand and investor voice — something few interns experience.

Experience developing content strategy, brand systems, and investor relations workflows.

A portfolio of published work: newsletters, investor decks, brand copy, and blogs.

Career support and referrals for brand strategy, venture capital, or private equity communications roles.

Desired Qualifications

Exceptional writing and storytelling ability — clear, concise, and creative.

Interest in marketing, investor relations, or brand strategy.

Strong organizational and research skills.

Familiarity with HubSpot, Notion, Canva, or AI writing tools a plus.

Entrepreneurial, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-moving environment.
