Position Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic Human Resources (HR) Intern to join our team this summer and provide daily support as a valued contributor to our HR team. This role will offer you the opportunity to work on the employee facing operational side of HR.
Reporting to the local HR Manager, this is a temporary onsite work opportunity in Lynchburg, VA, for the summer of 2026.

Your Day to Day as an HR operations intern may include:
- Researching and providing accurate and timely responses to employee inquires.
- Supporting new hire onboarding and providing a positive employee experience to new hires.
- Supporting accurate data collection by updating internal employee systems and databases.
- Using available tools and resources to prepare HR-related reports to support the business.
- Reviewing and providing recommendations on ways to improve HR policies & processes.
- Drafting engaging employee communications on policy and procedural changes.
- Responsibility for the maintenance, integrity and confidentiality of new hire files and records.
- Collaborating with HR and the local management team.
- Participating in continuous improvement projects.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- This opportunity is available to current students working toward a degree in human resource management or a closely related field.
- Ability to handle and work with confidential information within defined requirements.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to report to an assigned work location each day as scheduled.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
- Ability to receive and maintain a DOE security clearance.
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications including Teams.
- Familiarity with, or working knowledge of, U.S. labor laws.
- Familiarity with HRIS and ATS software.
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification.
