Pastoral Intern

Harbor Church is excited to announce our 2026 Summer Internship Program! Our 10-week program will run from Monday, June 8, 2026 through Sunday, August 16, 2026 on beautiful Cape Cod.

The priority application deadline is February 15, 2026, but applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. We expect our interns to be fully involved in our day-to-day operations and planning, so be prepared to come up with ideas and to put those ideas into action! As a young church plant, we are constantly innovating and looking for new ways to reach our community and to serve our members. You will be involved in bi-weekly staff meetings, facilitated by our Lead Pastor, so you can expect to be included in all church decision-making.

Our summer interns can expect to be innovative and creative, to have access to professional development and leadership training, and to be consistently encouraged to think bigger. You can expect this experience to leave you with a deeper understanding of local church operations, a community that feels like family, and on-going encouragement as you continue to grow in your faith.
 

Pastoral Intern Responsibilities:

At Harbor Church, we consider ourselves a family and we do everything we can to create an engaging and biblically-sound experiences for our members and guests. Working directly with our Lead, Campus,  and Executive Pastors, our pastoral intern will be highly involved in all day-to-day operations as well as our weekend experiences. Potential responsibilities may include: 

  • Leading and teaching in an adult discipleship setting
  • Developing sermon prep, writing, and delivering skills
  • Developing small group ministry promotional materials and schedules
  • Writing daily devotionals
  • Coordinating and assisting with event planning and execution
  • Main-stage speaking opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned

Q. Is there an age restriction for the Harbor Church summer internship?
A. Our internships are ideally suited for college-age students.

Q. Do I need to have a personal vehicle to intern at Harbor Church?
A. All interns are required to have a driver's license and access to a vehicle as public transportation is limited on Cape Cod.

Q What about housing?
A. As an added program benefit, Harbor Church will provide free housing for all interns through host families in our church community, if needed. When you email your resume, please let us know if you will need housing!

Q. What does a typical week at Harbor Church look like?
A. Your weekly schedule will depend on the specific area of ministry you serve in, but interns can expect to work on Sunday mornings from 7 AM to 1 PM, Thursday nights from 5:30-8:30, and an additional 10 hours during the week. Additionally, interns should expect to have some additional weekend and evening availability for special events.

Q. Can I apply to more than one ministry area?
A. Yes! 

Q. The program doesn't quite meet the qualifications of my college practicum/internship requirement. Should I still apply?
A. Yes! Our program specifications are not set in stone, and we may be able to adjust internship content and scheduling to meet your school requirements, should we offer you a position. We recommend that you note this early in the application process so we can discuss any modifications in your interview.

Q. Are Harbor Church internships paid?
A. This year we are excited to offer a weekly stipend to each intern in addition to an honorarium at the completion of the semester!

Q. I've submitted my application. Now what?
A. Our leadership team will review applications on a rolling basis. Favorable applicants will be asked to enter a secondary Zoom interview process. Final job offers will be made shortly after.

Q. Can I be married and participate in an internship? 
A. Yes, but in any given semester we may not be able to accept as many married applicants, especially those who are married with children, based on our ability to provide housing.

Q. Where does vacation fit in with the internship? 
A. No paid vacation is provided.
