Nonfiction Intern

Proximity Media (JUDAS AND THE BLACK MESSIAH, HOMEROOM, STEPHEN CURRY: UNDERRATED, VOICES RISING: THE MUSIC OF WAKANDA FOREVER, CREED III, HURRICANE KATRINA: RACE AGAINST TIME, SINNERS) is a multi-media production company seeking a motivated, ambitious intern to support our nonfiction department. This hybrid position is ideal for those interested in becoming documentary producers, directors, or executives —you must love reading, nonfiction film and television, have strong analytical writing skills, and a passion for diverse & inclusive storytelling. Previous internship experience is preferred but not required.

Proximity's mission is to bring audiences closer together through stories involving often-overlooked subject matters, and we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We welcome and consider applicants for employment regardless of race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, citizenship, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, pregnancy status, military/veteran status, disability, or any other protected category.

Please note that we accept applicants who are undergraduate juniors, seniors, and graduate students. Applicants not fitting the aforementioned requirement will not be considered.

Responsibilities will include administrative support, coverage, industry research, and participation in company-wide staff meetings. Interns will have the opportunity to develop an original nonfiction pitch (documentary or docuseries) with the guidance of the nonfiction team, culminating in a presentation to Proximity executives at the end of the semester. The internship also has an educational component, including zoom lunches with Proximity executives and industry professionals.

This is a paid, part-time, in-person internship in Burbank, CA. Interns will work up to 24 hours per week and must be in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am - 6:00pm. Interns can choose to work remotely on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays. If a holiday falls on a working day, interns may make up the hours on an alternate day. The program will tentatively begin on January, 12 2026 and end on May 8, 2026.

The deadline for the application is November 17 , 2025 at 7:00pm PST. No late applications will be considered. Due to the volume of submissions, only selected applicants will be contacted for next steps.
