Electrical & Embedded Systems Co-Op

Schneider Electric has an opportunity for an Electrical & Embedded Systems Co-Op at our Andover, MA facility, starting January 2026. The ideal candidate will stay through June 2026, working full-time onsite. The candidate would be a member of the Secure Power Division which provides “certainty of power” to the digital world, under the “APC Brand”.

 

What will you do?

The Electrical & Embedded Systems Coop will be joining a cross functional R&D team at the forefront of developing high-density rack Power Distribution Unit (rPDU) for AI data centers and high-efficiency Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) for enterprise customers. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on engineering experience in a dynamic environment.

  • Work alongside a multidisciplinary group of engineers ranging from electrical, mechanical, firmware and test engineers to assist in the design and development of rPDU and UPS systems.
  • Support hardware bring-up and initial board testing under guidance.
  • Write and debug low-level drivers for peripherals and sensors.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to integrate BSP (Board Support Package) components into larger systems.
  • Participate in documentation and testing activities.
  • Perform lab testing and validation of electrical components and systems.
  • Utilize schematics and layout capture tool such as Cadence.
  • Utilize PDM (Product Data Management) software to support design documentation, BOM and Change Order tasks.

For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $22 - $27 per hour. In addition, this position is eligible for overtime pay and recognition programs. The compensation rate for this position is for candidates located within the United States. Individual pay is determined by several factors including knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Qualifications

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?

  • Working towards degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of embedded systems fundamentals.
  • Coursework or internship experience with C/C++ and Python programming.
  • Familiarity with microcontrollers, SoCs, and basic hardware interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C).
  • Exposure to Linux or RTOS environments (even academic or hobbyist projects).
  • Basic knowledge of communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet) is a plus.
  • Understanding of boot-loaders, device trees, or BSP concepts is desirable
  • Good lab testing skills and hands-on experience with electrical components.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with schematics and layout capture tools such as Cadence is a plus.
  • Currently local to Andover, MA and be able to work full-time in person from January-June 2026.
