MIT Beaver Works - Administrative Assistant

A summer intern is needed to contribute to the Beaver Works Summer Institute (BWSI) programs. BWSI is a world class educational outreach program that challenges high school students across the country to develop robust autonomy algorithms using state-of-the-art autonomous systems and sensors. The intern will spend around nine weeks working at MIT Beaver Works to establish familiarity with the programs and help to organize the classes, students and events for the summer. The intern will primarily work alongside the Beaver Works Summer Institute Program Managers as well as Lincoln Laboratory and MIT staff.

BWSI is seeking a daytime administrative assistant. We are looking for a highly organized team member that works well independently but also enjoys interacting with instructors, guests and high-school students. This role entails managing behind-the-scenes operations such as student coordination, tracking students and staff, organizing a final event in August and assisting with the overall planning and execution of the Summer Program. Candidates should be very comfortable with phone, social media postings and E-mail correspondence.

This position is a great job for those who enjoy maintaining routine and order while seeking a less traditional office environment. This role requires someone with strong social skills that can handle moving around campus to different classrooms while communicating efficiently with staff and students.

The summer program will run from July 6 to August 2, 2026, Monday through Friday. The Teaching Assistant (TA) position is full-time, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time. Applicants must be available for the entire internship period, June 8 through August 7, as well as for the final challenge on Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2.
