2026 Summer Intern, Research
Join our Pacific Northwest team as a Research Intern, supporting market assessments, decarbonization potential, and outreach planning for Energy Efficiency/Demand Side Management (EE/DSM) Midstream/Distributor Network-focused programs. This internship offers hands-on experience in market research, distribution network analysis, and sales strategy development for HVAC and other qualifying equipment.
This is a full-time, 10-week, entry level internship position that begins in June and ends in August 2026. The internship will be hybrid (2x per week) from our office in Seattle, WA. At this time, we are unable to provide relocation nor housing assistance. Pay is expected to be $23 per hour.
Key Responsibilities:
- Market Assessment: Research and analyze market trends, customer segments, and competitive landscape for EE/DSM qualifying equipment (HVAC, water heating, space heating, kitchen equipment, lighting, etc.) in the Pacific Northwest market.
- Midstream Potential: Evaluate market potential and identify opportunities for midstream program growth, focusing on distributor and contractor engagement.
- Distribution Network Research: Map and assess midstream distribution networks, including key distributors, contractors, and trade allies for HVAC and other qualifying equipment.
- Sales Plan Development: Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to define outreach and sales strategies, including decarbonization potential, equity & affordability, lead generation, customer targeting, and value proposition messaging.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Account Management, and Engineering teams to align strategies and deliver actionable recommendations.
- Reporting: Summarize findings and present actionable insights to team leadership, supporting data-driven decision-making.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 30 completed college-level credit hours (preferably in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or related field)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools
- Interest in energy efficiency, market research, and sales strategy
- Familiarity with HVAC, water heating, space heating, kitchen equipment, or lighting technologies
- Experience with market research or sales planning projects
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
