The International Sibling Society, a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit with partnerships across 190+ countries, is seeking an Advisory Board & Stakeholder Engagement Intern to help build and manage the issNOW.earth Advisory Board Portal—a digital platform providing expert governance and strategic guidance from global leaders.

 

As an Advisory Board & Stakeholder Engagement Intern, you will support the recruitment, onboarding, and engagement of 30-50 advisory board members representing all six continents. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit governance, stakeholder relations, strategic communications, and executive support while working directly with experts, NGO leaders, corporate executives, and academics.

 

What You'll Do:

You will manage the operational and administrative functions of the Advisory Board Portal, supporting board recruitment, profile management, meeting coordination, document preparation, and stakeholder communications. You will work closely with the Executive Director to ensure the Advisory Board provides effective strategic guidance throughout the 2026 platform rollout.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify potential advisory board members with expertise in the United Nations, technology, nonprofit management, and global development
  • Conduct outreach to prospective board members via email and LinkedIn
  • Import LinkedIn profiles and create board member profiles in the Advisory Board Portal
  • Coordinate board meeting scheduling across multiple time zones
  • Prepare meeting agendas, briefing materials, and presentation decks
  • Take meeting minutes and distribute action items to board members
  • Track board composition analytics (regional diversity, gender balance, expertise areas)
  • Manage board task assignments and monitor completion status
  • Generate quarterly reports on board engagement and meeting attendance
  • Support document generation including strategic plans, policy recommendations, and governance guidelines
  • Facilitate board member onboarding and orientation
  • Maintain confidential board communications and records

Qualifications

Required:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a bachelor's degree program in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, International Relations, Business Administration, or related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn and professional networking platforms
  • Discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive board communications
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment

Preferred:

  • Experience with board management software or CRM systems
  • Background in nonprofit governance, stakeholder relations, or executive support
  • Knowledge of parliamentary procedure and meeting facilitation
  • Experience with virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet)
  • Multilingual skills (especially Spanish, French, Arabic, Mandarin, or other UN languages)
  • Previous internship or volunteer experience in nonprofit administration or board relations
  • Familiarity with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and global development issues

Position Details

Location Type: Remote (work from anywhere)
Schedule: Part-time (10-15 hours per week, flexible scheduling with some evening meetings to accommodate global time zones)
Duration: 12 weeks (with possibility of extension based on performance and funding)
Start Date: Flexible (rolling admissions with cohort start dates in February, May, and August 2026)
Compensation: Unpaid internship with professional development benefits and academic credit on your college transcript (subject to university approval)

Time Commitment Breakdown:

  • Board member recruitment and outreach: 3-4 hours/week
  • Meeting coordination and support: 3-4 hours/week
  • Document preparation and minutes: 2-3 hours/week
  • Profile management and analytics: 2-3 hours/week
  • Team meetings and collaboration: 1-2 hours/week
