Environmental Education Intern (Art Focus)-Brandywine Creek State Park
Environmental Education interns will assist with all interpretive programming and events held at the park. This Internship has an art and design focus to help bring a new perspective into our Nature Center Displays as we work on creating our interpretive spaces both accessible and interactive to the public. You will also be a part of designing large art pieces for our family events at the park. You will still get experience in cultural and natural Interpretation, participating in research and leading weekly programs on natural and historical topics such as Full Moon Hikes and Canoe Trips down the Brandywine Creek. Includes night programs and programs on weekends. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. Interns will need to be punctual, responsible, comfortable speaking in front of others, as well as have a positive attitude about working with members of the public and working outdoors. Interns will have opportunities to work one on one with naturalist staff to gain additional experience with environmental education, interpreting for the public, and engaging with a diverse audience.
Interns will also participate in intern-wide professional development activities and experiential learning opportunities that may require them to be off-site or away from their placement. Each intern will complete a personalized “demonstration of learning” project. At the conclusion of the internship, all interns will present their projects during a poster session for peers and Delaware State Parks staff.
