About the Internship
Tenova is a global engineering and technology company and part of the Techint Group. We partner with metals and mining producers worldwide to design and deliver innovative, reliable, and increasingly sustainable solutions across the full production chain. Our technologies span iron & steelmaking (including DRI and electric arc furnace melt shops), reheating and heat-treatment furnaces, flat products and strip processing lines, cold rolling mills, automation and digital process control systems, and lifecycle services that support plants long after start-up.
As Tenova continues to grow globally—working across six continents with thousands of employees—our story includes decades of technological milestones, major projects, and the people behind them.
We’re creating a book about the history of Tenova, and we’re looking for a History major who’s excited about research, archives, and storytelling. This intern will help collect, organize, and verify historical materials and interviews that will become the foundation of the book. This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in public history, oral history, archival work, corporate heritage, or narrative research.
What You’ll Do
Research & Archives
- Collect historical company materials (annual reports, newsletters, photos, press releases, project documents, speeches, presentations, organizational charts, etc.).
- Organize documents into a structured digital archive (labeling, dating, and categorizing files).
- Research key milestones including major projects, product/technology evolution, expansions, leadership eras, and cultural moments.
- Identify gaps in existing records and suggest research approaches to fill them.
- Interviews / Oral History
- Help identify long-tenured employees, retirees, and leaders to interview.
- Draft interview guides and questions tailored to different roles and time periods.
- Support scheduling and participate in interviews as a note-taker or co-interviewer when appropriate.
- Transcribe, summarize, and index interviews for easy reference.
Timeline & Research Summaries
- Build and maintain a detailed timeline of company history, achievements, and turning points.
- Cross-check information across multiple sources to ensure accuracy.
- Produce short research briefs and summaries to support the book’s narrative.
- Maintain a clear source log/bibliography for all collected materials.
- What You’ll Produce
- By the end of the internship, you’ll deliver:
- A well-organized digital archive of historical materials.
- A verified master timeline of company history.
- Indexed interview transcripts and summaries.
- Research briefs on major eras, milestones, and strategic shifts.
- A documented source list to support the writing process.
Who You Are
Required
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in History (or closely related field).
- Strong research and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent writing, summarization, and note-taking abilities.
- Highly organized and comfortable managing many sources of information.
- Professional communication skills and comfort interacting with senior stakeholders.
- Discretion and respect for confidential or sensitive materials.
Preferred
- Experience with archival research, oral history, or qualitative interviews.
- Familiarity with citation practices and source tracking.
- Interest in business, corporate, industrial, or community history.
- Experience with digital filing/organization tools (Drive, SharePoint, Notion, etc.).
- Ability to read sources in more than one language (if applicable).
Why This Internship Matters
You’ll gain hands-on experience turning historical sources into a structured story, work closely with long-tenured employees and leadership, and contribute to an official company publication that preserves our legacy.
