Transportation Engineering Intern

We are seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern to join our Roadway Design team at our Indianapolis office. This internship provides hands‑on experience in the planning, design, and operation of transportation systems, including highways, thoroughfares, and local streets. Interns will work alongside experienced engineers to apply academic knowledge to real‑world projects, gaining exposure to roadway design, intersection improvements, and transportation planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the geometric design of roadways and intersections to meet future capacity needs.
Support engineers in preparing design drawings, reports, and technical documentation.
Conduct data collection and analysis related to traffic flow, safety, and roadway performance.
Participate in project meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Apply classroom knowledge to practical design challenges in transportation engineering.
Qualifications:
Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering program at an ABET‑accredited school (sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate level preferred).
Strong academic performance and interest in transportation engineering and civil infrastructure design.
Familiarity with engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, or MicroStation is a plus.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
