Quality Engineering Co-op
Position Summary:
The Quality Engineer Co-Op implements the manufacturing processes required to ensure achievement of daily, weekly and monthly performance goals in the area safety, quality, throughput, delinquencies, productivity, first pass yield, and variable cost. This position typically spends 50% of work time on the production floor and 50% of work time in an office environment.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Identifies, prioritizes, and implements process improvements that will deliver achievement of daily, weekly and monthly performance metrics in the area of safety, quality, throughput, delinquencies, productivity, first pass yield, and variable cost. This is done by utilizing statistical analysis, Lean/Six Sigma tools, acceptable engineering techniques, and process knowledge.
- Join teams of experts to determine root cause of top failure modes, determine and implement corrective actions, and conduct follow-up to ensure compliance and the continued achievement of performance targets.
- Partner with manufacturing, quality, engineering, maintenance and purchasing leaders to manage, direct and coordinate all process activities needed to maximize productivity and minimize cost while achieving safety, quality and throughput targets.
- Establish sequencing, inspection criteria, tooling, gages and fixtures needed to produce products that meet customer requirements.
- Develop standard work instructions needed to improve safety, increase quality, increase productivity, reduce scrap and eliminate delinquencies.
- Ensure employees are trained on production procedures and practices.
- Stay abreast of technological advancements and process improvements, which may impact production.
- Maintain system documentation for processes and procedures.
- Foster a “Safety 24/7” culture; driving safety initiatives to ensure zero safety related incidents annually.
- Develop FAIR (First Article Inspection Reports) in compliance with AS9102.
- Work with different PCC Fluid Fitting facilities to perform RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) reports using various tools such as 8D, 5-Whys, Fish-Bone Analysis, etc.
- Generate daily reports related to Safety and Quality as necessary.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Working towards a BS Degree in Engineering, Technology or related discipline – Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering Preferred
- Mathematical: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
- Reasoning Ability: ability to apply common send understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Language: ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to verbally communicate effectively

- Understanding of total quality management system and tools (systematic problem solving through root cause analysis, process design for manufacturing and assembly, demand flow, bills of material structure, process plans, routings, and Value Stream Mapping)
- Ability to read & interpret blue prints.
- Ability to read & interpret router instructions & specifications.
- Properly use calipers, micrometers, and other gauge measuring tools.
- Inspection Equipment (Micrometer, Comparator, Dial Caliper)
