Intern, Fundraising Programs and Segment Strategy

As a member of the Fundraising Programs and Segment Strategy team, you’ll gain hands-on experience in nonprofit strategy, corporate engagement, and marketing—all while supporting a mission that saves lives every day. This virtual internship is your opportunity to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact by driving innovative approaches to fundraising and donor engagement. 

 

Key Responsibilities
Research & Strategic Insights 

Explore fundraising trends and uncover opportunities that drive impact. 

Review external studies and conduct competitive analysis to keep us ahead. 

Identify industries most likely to support the American Red Cross and compile actionable market insights. 

Gather feedback from American Red Cross regions and internal partners to shape strategies. 

Spot emerging trends, best practices, and challenges—and turn them into solutions. 

Present recommendations and keep source documents updated for team success. 

Employee Engagement 

Help design new volunteer opportunities that inspire employee participation. 

Collect content to create donor-facing materials and clear internal SOPs. 

Develop rapid learning tools and engaging training resources that empower teams. 

Microsite Support 

Support corporate online giving platforms during steady-state and disaster response. 

Receive cross-training to serve as a trusted back-up for microsite and fundraiser support. 

Analyze site performance and recommend improvements to maximize impact. 

Training & Knowledge Sharing 

Manage the team training calendar to keep learning on track. 

Assist in building and recording program trainings and rapid learns. 

Evaluate and refresh corporate fundraising materials on OneSource (American Red Cross intranet). 

Develop new resources and compile case studies showcasing best practices. 

In-Kind Fundraising 

Participate in Red Cross 101 trainings and help customize future sessions. 

Respond to public inquiries and create helpful FAQs. 

Conduct prospect research and craft email templates for outreach. 

Maintain trackers to ensure smooth operations. 

Biomedical Services Fundraising 

Research fundraising trends for health services to unlock new opportunities. 

Gather insights on American Red Cross biomedical programs and assess fundraising potential. 

Create guidance for fundraisers on using data and tools effectively. 

Update proposals and sales decks with compelling, relevant information.

Required Qualifications:

Age & Commitment: You’re at least 18 years old and ready to contribute to a mission that saves lives. 

Time Availability: You can dedicate a minimum of 20 hours per week during 8:00 AM–6:00 PM ET business hours (preferred). We offer flexible days and times to accommodate coursework or other employment. 

Tech-Savvy: You’re confident using Microsoft Office tools like Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint. 

Research Rockstar: You excel at digging deep—both qualitative and quantitative research—and turning insights into action. 

Analytical Thinker: You spot trends, identify challenges, and bring competitive analysis skills to the table. 

Clear Communicator: You express ideas effectively in writing and conversation. 

Learner & Leader: You’re currently enrolled in a college or university program (junior, senior, or graduate student) with a focus on business, nonprofit management, or related fields. 

Collaborator: You work well with diverse stakeholders and across leadership levels. 

Prepared & Professional: You can provide a resume and follow Red Cross and public health policies. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Passion for Purpose: You have an interest in business, marketing, communications, nonprofit management, finance, public health, and/or fundraising.
