Wastewater Conveyance -College Intern
Summary
Support departmental initiatives focused on improving energy efficiency, strengthening data management systems, and promoting sustainable operations. This role offers hands-on experience in analyzing facility energy use, developing tracking systems, and supporting reporting functions that drive measurable environmental and operational improvements. The intern will help identify opportunities for cost savings, optimize facility performance, and contribute to advancing the department's long-term sustainability goal
Job Responsibilities
- Analyze facility energy consumption data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for cost savings.
- Support energy efficiency initiatives such as transitioning to LED lighting, installing motion-sensor systems, and implementing additional energy-reduction measures.
- Assist in developing and maintaining an energy efficiency tracking system to monitor performance and measure progress over time.
- Support efforts to streamline project tracking tools to ensure alignment with budget and performance expectations.
- Compile sustainability and operational reports that document progress, outcomes, and key performance indicators.
- Contribute to restructuring and optimizing the department’s SharePoint filing system to enhance organization, collaboration, and document accessibility.
- Assist in preparing quarterly reports related to the conveyance system and other operational initiatives.
- Conduct research on emerging sustainability practices and technologies to inform departmental strategies.
- Participate in team meetings and project discussions to gain exposure to operational processes and decision-making.
Required Education and Experience
At the time of application, applicant must:
• Currently enrolled in an associates, bachelors or master’s degree program with an accredited college or university
• Currently enrolled in a related degree program to the internship in which they are applying
• A student in good standing and classified by their institution as a rising sophomore or higher
• Able to commit to working at least 20 hours per week
• Able to commit to the intern position for a minimum of two months
