TriSphere Apps is a mission-driven, volunteer-powered tech studio building real apps used by real people. We’re looking for a Director of Engineering who enjoys guiding teams, shaping technical direction, and mentoring others—without being buried in day-to-day tasks.

This role focuses on vision, leadership, and sustainability.

What you’ll do

Set the technical vision and engineering standards across projects

Help shape roadmaps with product and project leads

Mentor Engineering Supervisors and senior contributors

Make high-level architecture and tooling decisions

Promote healthy workloads and sustainable volunteer practices

Act as a bridge between engineering and leadership

What you won’t do

Run daily standups

Chase tasks or deadlines

Own every pull request

Be on call

Who you are

Senior engineer, tech lead, or engineering manager experience

Comfortable making architectural decisions

Enjoy mentoring and big-picture thinking

Strong communicator in a remote, async environment

Time commitment
3–5 hours per week (flexible)
