Internship, Podcast Politics Research Assistantship
Research Assistant Internship, Podcast Politics Project
I am a political scientist (Ph.D., 1996, University of Chicago) currently writing a book, tentatively titled Podcast Politics and the Demise of Civic Virtue.
Seeking student(s) with skills and experience in computer coding (R and/or Python) to serve as research assistants.
The book uses Large Language Models (LLMs) to evaluate what words are expressed in podcasts, and the sentiment expressed (sentiment analysis).
The ideal candidate is computer coding savvy, and is interested in media and politics. The successful candidates MUST SEEK APPROVAL FROM THEIR DEPARTMENT AND CAREER SERVICES OFFICE to garner academic internship credit.
I have had several successful interns via Handshake. They will provide testimonials to what skills they have learned, and my mentoring/professionalism.
Candidates will receive excellent research, coding, and writing experience, as well as the possibility of using the dataset for future projects and/or theses. Any published work (article, book) appropriately will acknowledge work of the assistant team.
