Job Summary
PSEG Long Island is looking for a Summer 2026 Technical Intern for the Transmission Operations
This job involves working as a member of the Transmission Operations team, responsible for overseeing the real time operation of the bulk electric system. The Transmission Operations team is responsible for operating the LIPA transmission system in a safe, reliable and efficient manner in accordance with all NERC Standards.

Job Responsibilities
Assignments will include working alongside professionals in the following areas:
- Primary focus for this internship will be to assist in recording and development of process flows / requirements for new Transmission Operations reporting tools. This work will include recording process flows for current reports and tools, work flows in the Transmission Control Center, and work flows in Transmission Operations engineering.
- Assist Transmission Operations leadership with analytical support related to system conditions, performance metrics, and operational trends.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of programming tools and automation solutions that improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Support the review of outage requests, switching operations, and transmission system configurations.
- Participate in the analysis of system events, alarms, and operational logs, providing data-driven insights to engineering staff.
- Support documentation efforts, including operational procedures, guidelines, and technical summaries.
- Engage with adjacent engineering and planning teams on coordinated initiatives.
Job Specific Qualifications
Required education/skills:
The successful candidate(s) must be actively pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited institution in Engineering and graduating between December 2026 and May 2029. Students graduating in May/June 2026 are not eligible unless they are enrolling in a post-graduate degree program in the fall term of 2026. PSEG Long Island
recognizes institutions of higher education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent. Candidates must have completed sophomore level course work for consideration.
Because this position will require traveling to various PSEG Long Island locations, a valid driver's license and a safe driving record is required.
Preferred Education/Skills:
• 3.0 GPA
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Strong foundation in electrical theory and power systems.
• Demonstrated programming experience (SQL, C/C++, VBA and MSFT Tools).
• Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and professionalism.
• Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
• Interest in utility operations, system reliability, or grid operations is beneficial.
All PSEG Long Island internship roles are paid at an hourly rate, however there are no medical benefits associated with these positions. Candidates are expected to work 40 hours per week over the duration of the summer internship. We are targeting currently enrolled/matriculating students that are able to commute to their designated work location as needed. Housing, transportation, and immigration support will not be provided in association with these positions.
