(#8356123002) 2026 Intern, AI Wireless Research (Spring/Summer)

Lab Summary:  The Standards & Mobility Innovation team is committed to developing technologies that enable ubiquitous access to information and provide immersive multimedia experiences for mobility users.  Our research focuses on:

  • Wireless standards and technology including Wi-Fi, 5G, LTE-A, IoT
  • RF & fast prototyping of 5G and IEEE 802 wireless systems and/or use cases
  • Multimedia standards and technology including VR, HDR, All-IP delivery

Position Requirements: 

  • Performing research for next generation wireless communication solutions and systems
  • Apply cutting edge deep learning (DL) techniques for developing optimized solutions and systems, and demonstrate improved performance
  • Create system specification based on the high level concept including applying deep learning for wireless systems in both physical layer or higher layer
  • Integrate wireless system simulator with generic machine learning environments, and evaluate performance with AI-in-the-loop simulations or prototyping

Required Skills:

  • Currently pursuing PhD in relevant field
  • Excellent hand-on experience in deep learning architecture design and implementation, hyper-parameter tuning, model evaluation, performance analysis and debugging
  • Excellent coding skills in Python and Python based ML modules such as Scikit-learn, Keras, Tensor flow, Keras-RL, PyTorch and Pandas libraries
  • Solid background in wireless communication areas such as digital signal processing, filter theory, FFTs, synchronization, detection, equalization, MIMO, user scheduling, link adaptation, power control, etc.
  • Experience implementing machine learning algorithms for solving challenging problems preferably in wireless communication system design
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills
