Overview
Trace Zero is seeking a part-time Laboratory Intern to support onsite chemical analysis and laboratory operations at our Auburn Hills facility. This role is intended for candidates pursuing higher education in a scientific discipline who are seeking hands-on experience in an industrial laboratory environment.
Founded in 2009, Trace Zero is a high-purity chemical supplier to the semiconductor manufacturing industry. Our laboratory plays a critical role in quality control, analytical testing, and data integrity, operating in a detail-driven, safety-focused, and regulated environment.
Job Description
The Laboratory Intern performs routine chemical analysis and laboratory support tasks under the direct supervision of the Lab Manager. The intern supports day-to-day testing of ultra-pure chemicals used in manufacturing while learning proper analytical technique, documentation discipline, and quality system expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, label, log, and organize samples and reagents
- Perform routine chemical analysis, including:
- Titration and pH analysis
- Moisture analysis and % solids testing
- Assist with preparation of standards and reagents
- Accurately record and document data using Microsoft Office tools
- Assist with research and development activities as assigned
- Perform routine laboratory cleaning, maintenance, and organization
- Clean, maintain, and properly store laboratory equipment and tools
- Track inventory and assist with restocking lab supplies
- Follow all safety, quality, and procedural requirements (SOPs, SDS, PPE)
Maintaining a clean, organized, and audit-ready laboratory environment is a core expectation of this role.

Qualifications
Required
- Currently pursuing or completed coursework in a STEM field.
- Academic or prior laboratory experience
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures precisely
- Understanding of chemical hazards, SDS usage, and PPE
- Ability to lift up to 45lbs.
- Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
- Ability to provide a current academic transcript
- Interest in analytical chemistry, quality, or industrial laboratory work
- Experience with mass spectroscopy is a plus
