QA Test Engineer

QA Test Engineer (Automation Focus)

Cleveland, OH (5 days on-site)

12-month contract-to-hire

 

Overview:

We’re looking for an early-in-career QA Test Engineer to join a collaborative team focused on delivering high-quality software solutions. This position is with our Fortune 200 retail client and has been a staple in Cleveland for generations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in an Agile environment, enjoys solving problems, and is eager to grow their QA career. You’ll work closely with developers, QA leads, and project managers to ensure robust testing practices and automation coverage across multiple applications.

 

What You’ll Do:

• Participate in Agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives).

• Design, write, and execute manual and automated test cases (approx. 25% manual, 75% automation).

• Manage test cases using Zephyr in Jira.

• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Java, Selenium, and BDD (Behavior-Driven Development) frameworks such as Gherkin or Cucumber.

• Perform API testing with tools like Postman and Rest Assured.

• Collaborate with developers to review code, merge automation workflows, and

ensure test coverage.

• Use GitHub for source control and GitHub Actions for automation triggers.

• Troubleshoot issues, update scripts, and ensure all tests pass before deployment.

• Work with mentors and QA leads for feedback and continuous improvement.

 

What We’re Looking For:

• Strong experience in test automation (Java/Selenium preferred, but open to any programming language).• Willingness to learn and grow within the position, the team, and the QA environment.

• Familiarity with BDD frameworks (Gherkin/Cucumber).

• Hands-on experience with API testing (Postman, Rest Assured).

• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools like Jira.

• Ability to work independently, research solutions, and ask the right questions.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to integrate with a busy team.

• Interest in building a long-term QA career.

 

Nice-to-Have:

• ISTQB or SAFe Agile certification.
