Children's Residential Intern

Children’s Residential Treatment & Clinical Internship

Latham Centers is seeking dedicated summer interns to support children and adolescents with complex learning, developmental, and mental health needs in a residential treatment setting. This internship offers hands-on experience in direct care, behavioral supports, and interdisciplinary clinical practices while providing meaningful exposure to therapeutic residential programming. This internship is ideal for students pursuing careers in psychology, social work, counseling, special education, applied behavior analysis, mental health, or related human services fields who are seeking immersive experience in a therapeutic residential setting. Interns will spend one shift per week shadowing a Clinician to gain exposure to interdisciplinary clinical practices, treatment planning, and the individualized needs of students. Interns report directly to the Program Supervisor.

Locations: Brewster, MA
Schedule: Varied Schedules

Compensation: $20.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist, support and instruct students with developing their daily living skills.
  • Provide positive role modeling.
  • Consistently implement all treatment and behavior plans.
  • Follow plans for assigned activities.
  • Ensure safety of students on grounds and in the community.
  • Assist in maintaining the safety and appearance of the residential facilities.
  • Effectively communicate with other staff regarding student status and progress.
  • Attend all mandatory trainings and maintain current certifications.
  • Provide therapeutic crisis intervention, as needed.
  • Assist with creation and implementation of student profiles and behavior interventions.
  • Assist with documentation for discharge summaries.
  • Gather and review behavioral data.
  • Attend behavior support plan meetings.

Training & Requirements:

  • All required Latham trainings and certifications will be provided
  • Ability to work independently, responsibly, and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and observational skills
  • Willingness to actively engage in direct care and clinical learning opportunities
  • Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical practice
