Recruiting Intern

Applicants must live in the Greater Kansas City area to be considered.
This internship provides hands-on exposure to recruiting operations, sourcing, and employer branding within a healthcare environment. Candidates should be pursuing or recently completed a related degree (or equivalent experience), have strong communication and organizational skills, and be available for occasional local travel to support career fairs and hiring events.

Recruiting Intern

Position Summary:

The Recruiting Intern supports Americare Senior Living’s Talent Acquisition team by assisting with full life-cycle recruiting activities for frontline and professional roles across our senior living communities. This role provides hands-on exposure to recruiting operations, sourcing strategies, employer branding, and applicant tracking systems while contributing directly to hiring outcomes.

As part of the People Team, the Recruiting Intern works closely with the Director of Talent Acquisition, recruiters, and hiring managers to help attract, engage, and move candidates through the hiring process in a way that reflects Americare’s RISING values and Hometown Hospitality culture. This position is designed to develop foundational recruiting and HR skills while providing meaningful, real-world experience in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Recruiting and Candidate Support

  • Support frontline and professional recruiting efforts for Americare communities by assisting with sourcing, screening, and candidate communication. 
  • Post, update, and maintain job requisitions in Americare’s  Applicant Tracking System (ATS), ensuring accuracy and timeliness. 
  • Review resumes and candidate profiles to identify potential matches based on role requirements and community needs.
  • Schedule phone screens and interviews in partnership with recruiters and hiring managers. 
  • Assist with conducting phone screens and documenting interview notes in the ATS, as appropriate. 
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date candidate records, pipelines, and talent pools within the ATS

Sourcing and Employer Branding


 

  • Assist with sourcing candidates through ATS databases, job boards, and other approved platforms.
  • Draft and post job advertisements using approved Americare branding, inclusive language, and basic SEO best practices. 
  • Support recruitment marketing efforts by helping create and share social media job postings and hiring campaigns. 
  • Assist with tracking sourcing activity and applicant flow metrics to support reporting and continuous improvement.

Operations, Reporting, and Projects


 

  • Monitor open requisitions and flag aging or high-priority roles to the Talent Acquisition team. 
  • Assist with reference checks, background screening coordination, and pre-employment process steps as assigned. 
  • Support preparation for career fairs, hiring events, and virtual recruiting initiatives, including attending job fairs to represent Americare Senior Living, engage candidates, and support on-site recruiting activities as needed. 
  • Participate in special Talent Acquisition projects, process improvements, and data cleanup efforts as needed. 
  • Collaborate with recruiters and People Team members to ensure a positive candidate experience throughout the hiring process.as a trusted resource for learners by addressing questions and providing guidance throughout the learning process.

     

 

Work Environment

Position Overview 

Type: Temporary or Internship position; hours determined by program requirements and business need. 

Schedule: Flexible within standard business hours; may vary based on recruiting activity. 

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office or home office environment depending on location. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, and operates a car for required travel. 

Travel: Occasional local or regional travel may be required for hiring events or career fairs

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job and include:

Standing, sitting, walking, changing of position, reaching, extending hands & arms, reach across midline, crouching, balancing, kneeling, stooping, bending, lifting or carrying 25lbs &push and pull 100 lbs. Extended periods of computer and phone use.

 

 

Sensory Demands

  • Auditory: hear and understand verbal request,
  • Visually: be able to read necessary information to complete work tasks,
  • Verbally: communicate with customers and others on your team

     

Safety Equipment

  • It is mandatory to follow safety policies and procedures including use carts when moving items as well as all personal protective equipment. Rather than lift heavy objects, break down items to smaller quantity.
  • Use of seatbelt when operating or traveling in a car. Handsfree cell phone use required, when operating a vehicle.
  • Mandatory reporting of all work-related injuries within 12 hours to supervisor with participation in required documentation.
  • Participation in our drug & alcohol testing procedures is a mandatory part of employment with this facility.

     

OSHA Exposure

  • Category III, not at risk for exposure to blood borne pathogens.

     

Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
  • OR, equivalent work experience demonstrating strong interest in recruiting, HR, or talent development. 
  • Previous internship, customer service, administrative, or recruiting support experience preferred but not required. 
  • Requires a current driver’s license and a good driving record
