Python or Java Developer/Instructor

We are looking for passionate instructors to teach Python or Java project-based K-12 students in after-school programs, weekend workshops, and camps. We are not seeking industry-level Python or Java experience, but you need at least to be willing to learn and communicate with students. We will have training for qualified candidates and the experience in either language is preferred.

We maintain a low teacher-student ratio (from 1:1 up to 1:4) where possible and keep students and instructors together throughout an entire course for a meaningful experience. Instructors will take on a number of basic responsibilities:

  • Lead weekly project-based Python or Java classes
  • Guide students to apply coding concepts in problem-solving projects and publish the project

Requirements

  • Computer/Engineering/STEM/Education related majors or relevant experience
  • Interest in learning new programming languages and tools (e.g., Python, Minecraft MakeCode, Scratch, Unity, Roblox, web development)
  • At least one afternoon/evening available per week
  • Enjoy working with kids of all ages
  • Exercise patience and humility
  • A passion for learning and education

Preferred Experience (but not required)

  • Familiarity with popular programming languages (Python, Java, C#, HTML/CSS, JavaScript)
  • AI and Machine Learning
  • Game Development
  • Web Development
  • Algorithms

About Coding Mind

Founded in the fall of 2017, Coding Mind (http://codingmind.com/) is dedicated to educating students of all ages in computer science through interactive lessons and enriching programming projects. With five campuses nationwide and plans for continued expansion, we are broadening our reach through both online and in-person programs for students nationwide and abroad. We offer after-school programs, weekend workshops, summer camps, and 1-on-1 mentorship. Our curriculum heavily focuses on AI, particularly Generative AI, and we emphasize a learn-by-doing philosophy. Our coding curricula involve the development of real-world applications, such as robotics, AI, machine learning, mobile apps, web apps, and games. Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
