Pool Manager Intern

Job Title: Pool manager

Location: Various multiguard pools

Duration: 4-5 months (May-September)

Work hours: 40h per week

Mentorship included

Paid internship

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily pool opening and closing procedures.
  • Monitor pool activities and support the lifeguard team in enforcing safety rules.
  • Conduct or assist with water quality testing, equipment checks, and chemical log documentation.
  • Assist in coordinating staff schedules, ensuring compliance with break policies, and supporting the staffing coordinator in creating weekly schedules and managing day-to-day scheduling tasks.
  • Provide customer service by assisting patrons and helping resolve minor concerns.
  • Participate in rescue-readiness drills and assist during incidents or emergencies under supervision.
  • Help maintain facility cleanliness, restock supplies, and support overall operational upkeep.

What You’ll Gain

  • Knowledge of pool operations, water chemistry, and facility inspection procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with lifeguarding standards, emergency response, and safety protocols.
  • Familiarity with lifeguard equipment, incident reporting, and operational documentation.

  • Supervisory experience supporting staff rotations, breaks, and on-the-job training.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Enhanced teamwork, professionalism, time management, and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

  • Age 18+
  • At least 1 year of lifeguarding experience.
  • Interest in aquatics, recreation management, operations, or leadership roles.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-service-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a safety-focused environment.
  • Willingness to participate in rescue-readiness and emergency response training.
  • Professionalism, reliability, and comfort working outdoors or in aquatic settings.
  • Vald ARC Lifeguarding/First Aid & CPR/AED for Lifeguards Certification (if not certified, please visit our training page for more information about certification and recertification classes)
  • Bloodborne Pathogens Certification
  • Pool Operator Certification
