Audio Editing Intern (Comedy)

About Us

SlapStik Comedy gives independent comedians a stage—and gives audiences something to laugh at that isn’t their email inbox. Through podcasts, our magazine, and video content, we spotlight rising talent and create fresh, funny content. With 32,000+ followers and growing, we’re building a creative home where artists can collaborate and level up.

We’re big on teamwork and clear communication. Supervisors work with you—not against you.

Position Overview

We’re looking for an Audio Editing Intern who can take raw recordings and turn them into clean, polished, professional audio. If you love making voices sound crisp, removing background noise like it personally offended you, and you can take feedback without taking it to heart—this role is for you.

This internship offers college credit and real projects you can use in your portfolio.

Responsibilities

Clean and polish studio-recorded, field-recorded, and phone-recorded audio for podcasts and media content (noise reduction, EQ, compression, leveling, de-essing).

Edit dialogue for clarity and pacing (remove filler, tighten timing, keep it natural).

Deliver clean exports in the required formats and naming conventions.

Collaborate with editors/creatives as needed.

Apply feedback from team leads and comedians to meet project goals.

Create or propose intro/outro sound concepts for new projects (music bed ideas, stingers, transitions—nothing that’ll get us copyright-struck).

Attend weekly team meetings with webcam on.

Communicate professionally via Microsoft Teams + email.

Requirements

We don’t care if you’re self-taught, in school, graduated, or learned audio on YouTube at 1 a.m. We care that you can do the work and communicate.

Available 10+ hours/week

Able to attend meetings Sundays, 12pm–2pm EST

Comfortable with at least one audio tool (Audacity, Adobe Audition, Pro Tools, Fairlight, etc.)

Able to work independently and meet deadlines

Organized, reliable, and open to feedback/revisions

Strong ability to follow directions and ask questions when unsure (yes—even the “dumb” ones)

Enjoys a fun creative environment and understands comedy timing

Bonus points if you:

Have podcast editing samples (before/after is great)

Know loudness targets (LUFS) and basic delivery standards

Can do light sound design (stingers, ambience cleanup, basic FX)

To Apply

Submit Resume + Portfolio + Cover Letter (PDF preferred).

In your cover letter, tell us:
