ABOUT HandsOn Greater Phoenix:  

For nearly 30 years, HandsOn Greater Phoenix has worked with nonprofits, Title I schools, neighborhood associations and government entities to assess and meet the volunteer needs of the Greater Phoenix area. The HandsOn VISTA program supports members at multiple placement sites across the valley. Our VISTA members enable our community service partners to expand capacity and build infrastructure by creating the processes and tools needed to effectively access and utilize valuable resources. HandsOn VISTA members will improve capacity for leading communities during and beyond their terms of service by developing their knowledge, skills, and abilities related to volunteering, civic engagement, and other areas. In addition to the site-specific work of the individual role all of our VISTA members: participate in 2 AmeriCorps of Service, lead projects at 2 HandsOn community service days, attend monthly VISTA team trainings with the other HandsOn VISTA members, and monthly community volunteering project opportunities.

Member Duties :  

Join St. Vincent de Paul – Mission Engagement Department to expand reach to support the increased need for food throughout the state! Demand at Arizona’s food banks has grown by more than 33% since 2020 & according to 2023 census data, 12.4% of Arizonans live in poverty. The successful applicant will help develop community partnership outreach strategies throughout the state of AZ & build the infrastructure to increase the food collection via food drives as well as distribution. You will do this by assessing scale of successful food drive models, develop sustainable practices program analysis & creating surveys to inform engagement processes with K–12 schools, colleges, & universities in the fall by developing & evaluating long-term strategies that activate educators and students as partners in addressing food insecurity. The future member should have some background in community service. Language and/or a knowledge Microsoft, Canva, & have strong communication skills but not required.
