Junior Software Developer (Java)
Location: Grand Rapids, MI (Hybrid)
Position Type: 1 year contract (40hr/week), likelihood of extension or permanent placement
Pay Rate: $30/hr DOE
We are looking for a passionate and eager Junior Developer who is ready to grow their skills at our large grocerier and retail client. Brooksource's Elevate program is a program designed to bridge the gap between education and in-demand IT roles. Ideal candidates will have a foundational understanding of Java programming and a desire to learn and apply new technologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or IT related field (ideally recent graduation August or December 2025)
- The ideal candidate for this role has 0 to 2 years of relevant work experience with Java and Spring (internship or coursework project experience)
- Strong communication skills, collaborative nature, and desire to grow and learn!
Typical Day:
As a Junior Developer, you’ll find each day brings new challenges and opportunities for growth. Here’s what a typical day might look like:
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, adhering to coding standards and best practices.
- Execute unit tests and assist in the testing process to ensure application reliability and performance.
- Collaborates with other development staff to achieve quality and consistency.
- Participates in architecture, design and code reviews.
- Develops and maintains operational and system level documentation.
- Assists in the analysis and troubleshooting of application issues.
