Summer Internship- City Prosecutor's Office
DESCRIPTION
This is a paid summer internship program to provide exposure to law-related fields and careers, such as criminal prosecutor, Law Enforcement Officer, Lab Technicians, and Dispatch Operators. The approximate dates of the internship program are July 1 to August 8, 2025. Applicants will participate in a mentoring and educational program while developing responsibility and experience. The City Prosecutor's Office, in partnership with Pacific Gateway will provide a paid internship. Hourly amount is estimated to be $16.90/hr depending on grant funding. Benefits are not offered for internships.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Duties may include the following:
Participating in legal seminars
Participation in legal assignments involving researching and writing
Touring various Long Beach agencies involved in the criminal justice process
Participating in group exercises and projects
Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS TO FILE

Priority is given to Long Beach and Signal Hill residents. Other geographical locations will be considered.
Be between the ages of 16 and 24.
High school students must have completed their junior or senior year of high school at the start of the program in July 2026.
Current college students may apply. College students who are recent graduates by the beginning of the program may apply.
Must have a minimum 2.7 GPA and excellent school attendance.
Must pass a criminal background check.
Must have reliable transportation.
Must be available for the entire program (estimated 5-6 weeks).
SELECTION PROCEDURE
Complete the online application.
Include a letter of interest explaining why you want to participate in a legal internship, your résumé, and official or unofficial transcripts. Include two references listed in your application (with current contact information), one of which must be a professional or school reference (e.g., school official, employment or volunteer) and one personal reference (e.g., someone who knows you personally).
Deadline to apply is March 1, 2026 at 11:59 pm. Deadline may be extended if an insufficient number of applications are received. If selected, we will contact you for an interview. We anticipate conducting interviews April or May.
