SMTD Student Photographer

Job description:
The SMTD Student Photographer will support the School of Music, Theatre and Dance by capturing high quality photo content for concerts, performances, recitals, masterclasses, and special events. This position supports SMTD marketing, publicity, web, and social media needs.

Responsibilities:
● Photograph SMTD events including performances, recitals, rehearsals, masterclasses, and occasional promotional shoots
● Capture a variety of shots including wide venue images, action shots, candid moments, and detail shots
● Edit and deliver a curated set of high resolution images by established deadlines
● Organize and upload photos following basic file naming and delivery guidelines
● Communicate in advance with SMTD staff regarding call times, venue expectations, and shot priorities

Requirements:
● Reliable and punctual with strong time management skills
● Attention to detail and ability to work independently
● Strong communication skills and responsiveness via email
● Ability to work unobtrusively during performances and rehearsals
● Experience with event or performance photography preferred
● Basic photo editing skills (Lightroom, Photoshop, or similar) preferred
● Ability to work in low light and fast paced environments
● Must be able to use a DSLR or mirrorless camera (smartphone photography will not meet performance needs). Loaner equipment or camera checkout can be arranged if needed.

Approx. 5–10 hours a week (varies based on the performance calendar). All hours worked including photographing, editing, and organizing/uploading are compensated.
