Smart Manufacturing & Automation Data Science Intern

Texas Instruments is seeking a Data Science Intern for an exciting opportunity within our Smart Manufacturing and Automation (SMA) Process Control Systems and Yield organization. As an SMA Intern, you will work on meaningful projects involving manufacturing process control and machine learning that are challenging and impactful to the organization.

The SMA Process Control Systems and Yield team drives manufacturing excellence across TI's global semiconductor operations through innovative modeling strategies, optimizing process systems, and automation. Our team leverages machine learning technologies to optimize manufacturing workflows, enhance process control, and enable continuous improvement. As a Data Science Intern, you will develop intelligent automation solutions, build pipelines, and create data-driven systems that support Process Control Systems and Yield.

In this role, you'll have the chance to:

  • Develop and implement machine learning models and algorithms to predict and optimize process, yield, metrology, and manufacturing inspections.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Build data analytics dashboards and APIs that support manufacturing quality decisions.
  • Build data solutions/pipelines that enhance software applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities and implement ML-driven solutions.
  • Contribute to process automation frameworks that improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Microelectronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher.
  • Programming experience in Python or a similar language.
  • Machine Learning fundamentals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, or scripting languages for automation.
  • Experience with machine learning concepts and frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn).
  • Experience with data visualization tools or dashboard development.
  • Familiarity with AI code generation platforms (Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, LangChain, AutoGPT, CrewAI, MCP).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing process.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with people across different functions.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Self-motivated with a drive to deliver results.
