SY 2026-27 School Psychologist Intern

Salary Range:

$50,000.00 - 59,500.00 USD annually.

The School Psychologist Intern works under the guidance of the School Psychologist to deliver psychological services within the school environment. This role provides practical experience in evaluating student needs, designing interventions, and partnering with educators, parents, and multidisciplinary teams.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program or higher in psychology from an accredited institution. Official transcript(s) required.
  • Completion of practicum in School Psychology prior to start date
  • Active AZ Department of Public Safety (DPS) IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work under the direction of the Supervising School Psychologist to consult with teachers, parents, and administrators regarding student needs and interventions
  • Administer psychological assessments, including cognitive, academic, and socio-emotional evaluations of students
  • Actively engage with intervention teams, including teachers, administrators and other support staff, to develop and monitor individualized support plans for students 
  • Participate in crisis intervention planning and response as requested by site administrators or supervising school psychologist 
  • Perform psychoeducational assessments, collect data, and prepare reports addressing student needs
  • Facilitate communication between families and the school to ensure comprehensive support for students
  • Conduct classroom observations and evaluations to ascertain individual student abilities and needs
  • Provide assistance and resources to school staff in areas such as child development, community resources, social/behavioral management 
  • Develop and implement behavior management plans 
  • Facilitate data-based decision-making, development of appropriate programs, determination of student placements and monitor the effectiveness of interventions
  • Participate in weekly clinical supervision with supervising school psychologist
  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

  • Knowledge of developmental, educational, and psychological testing and assessment techniques  
  • Experience in the administration of psycho-educational evaluations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of legal and ethical practices related to school psychology
  • Knowledge and understanding of the federal and state regulations as it applies to the school environment  
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess student needs
  • Demonstrated professionalism and ability to communicate effectively verbally and written 
  • Skilled in managing multiple tasks, prioritizing responsibilities, and meeting deadlines

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 15 lbs. such as boxes, supplies, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

TRAVEL: 

Occasional travel may be required for site visits, meetings, trainings and/or conferences. Locations may vary and may require overnight stays.
