Location: Novi, MI

Reports To: Test Engineer / Test Center Manager

Internship Program Overview

The Pürem by Eberspächer Internship Program is designed to provide hands-on, real-world experience in an automotive engineering environment. Interns are fully embedded within their teams and contribute directly to ongoing projects and testing activities.

This internship is ideal for students interested in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, or related technical disciplines who want practical experience in a lab and test-based setting.

Position Summary

The Intern Test Technician will support durability and performance testing activities within the Test Center. This role involves assisting engineers and technicians with test setup, operation of durability rigs, and execution of customer and internal validation tests.

The intern will gain direct exposure to mechanical testing, exhaust systems, and automotive durability standards while working in a structured but fast-paced technical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the setup, installation, and operation of Hi-Flow Burner stands and Water Quench boxes
  • Support customer DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report) testing activities based on program requirements
  • Assist with setup and operation of mechanical fatigue durability tests on oscillating load rigs
  • Support mounting mat performance testing using the T1000 shaker system
  • Assist Test Engineers during active testing and while monitoring or controlling test equipment
  • Document basic test information and follow established test procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe test area
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support Test Center operations

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Basic understanding of engineering fundamentals, mechanical systems, and automotive systems
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in hands-on technical work
  • Ability to read and understand basic instructions, procedures, and safety documentation
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with mechanical testing, lab environments, or automotive systems (academic or hands-on)
  • Familiarity with durability testing concepts or test equipment
  • Interest in product validation, testing, or automotive development

Work Environment & Schedule

  • 100% onsite at the Novi Test Center
  • Hands-on test lab environment with mechanical equipment
  • Standard weekday schedule during the internship term
  • No travel required
