Software Engineering Intern - Remote

As a Software Engineering Intern, you’ll help design and develop applications, automation tools, and AI‑enhanced systems that power Zoo Media’s programs and partner initiatives. This is a hands-on role where you’ll collaborate with designers, content teams, strategists, and engineers to build solutions that support young creators and digital learners.

What You’ll Do

AI‑Driven Development

  • Build and test software solutions that integrate artificial intelligence, automation, and real-time data
  • Experiment with machine learning models, natural language processing, and recommendation systems
  • Support the development of tools that enhance content creation, learning experiences, and digital workflows

Full‑Stack Application Development

  • Contribute to front‑end and back‑end development for websites, dashboards, and mobile applications
  • Support UI/UX improvements to ensure accessibility, clarity, and cross‑platform performance
  • Help maintain and optimize systems used across Zoo Media’s creative and educational platforms

Custom Tool Creation

  • Build internal tools that support media automation, digital publishing, marketing workflows, and creator resources
  • Assist in developing proprietary applications used across youth programs, creative studios, and partner organizations
  • Explore opportunities to integrate AI into everyday processes to improve efficiency and impact

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Work with creative, analytics, and strategy teams to deliver full‑cycle software solutions
  • Participate in code reviews, planning sessions, and Agile development workflows
  • Learn how engineering supports storytelling, digital engagement, and youth-centered innovation

Innovation & Research

  • Contribute to product R&D and testing of emerging technologies
  • Analyze competing platforms and build case studies to support new features and development paths
  • Explore how AI and automation can expand access to creative tools and learning environments

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Familiarity with JavaScript, Python, React, Node.js, or similar frameworks
  • Interest in AI technologies, machine learning libraries, and automation APIs
  • Proficiency with GitHub/GitLab workflows, API integration, and Agile principles
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving skills, and collaborative mindset
  • Curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to experiment and iterate
