GENERAL SUMMARY
Do you enjoy sharpening written content so it’s clear, accurate, and ready for the public? 
In this role, you’ll support the Department of Public Communications (DPC) by editing a wide range of materials—such as articles, newsletters, flyers, graphics, brochures, and proclamations—to ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to editorial standards. You’ll collaborate with writers and editors, fact‑check information, refine messaging, and use countywide and department‑specific software to complete assignments and assist with content creation.

What You’ll Do
- Edit and proofread written, digital, and social media content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
- Review executive quotes and talking points to support effective public communication.
- Update website content to maintain accuracy and concise messaging.
- Format materials for print, digital, and social platforms while upholding quality standards.
- Manage multiple editing projects and deadlines with strong attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications

Reviews and edits written content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency. Corrects grammatical, typographical, and factual errors. This includes articles, newsletters, flyers, graphics, brochures, proclamations, etc.

 

Reviews and edits social media content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency.

Reviews and edits quotes from executives for press releases and talking points for media interviews.

Ensures adherence to style guides and editorial policies and processes.

Collaborates with writers and other editors to refine and polish content.

 

Update website material to ensure accuracy and conciseness.

Fact-checks information to ensure credibility and reliability.

Meets deadlines consistently.

 

Formats content for various platforms, including print, digital and social media.

Maintains a high standard of quality in all edited materials.

Manages multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.

Proofreads content provided by other departments to ensure consistent, accurate and quality public communications, as assigned.

 

Additional Minimum Qualifications

Assist with content creation as needed.

Utilizes current countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.
