Compensation and Benefits
- NYC Public Schools offers competitive starting salaries based on education and years of teaching experience. The starting salary for a teacher with a master’s degree and no prior teaching experience is currently $77,455, or $68,902 for a teacher with a bachelor's degree and no previous teaching experience. On September 14, 2026, these salaries will increase to $80,166 and $71,314, respectively.
- Teachers with prior teaching experience may initiate a compensation review process after they begin teaching that considers levels of education, degrees, and years of full-time teaching experience. An increase in compensation may be backdated. Visit the Online Support Center for more information.

Requirements
Candidates must meet the following requirements to teach at NYC Public Schools:
- Possess or be on track to earn New York State teacher certification by September 1, 2026
- Be authorized to work in the United States
