At Zoo Media, we believe veterinarians are more than clinicians. They are entrepreneurs, educators, first responders, and pillars of their agricultural and animal communities. This internship is designed for emerging veterinarians, veterinary students, and transitioning service members who want to master both animal care and business leadership.
The Veterinarian Entrepreneur Internship prepares participants to launch, scale, and operate their own veterinary practice while serving as trusted on-call providers for farm animals, exotic animals, livestock operations, and specialty care markets. This program blends clinical exposure, business systems training, media positioning, and community integration into one structured pathway.
This opportunity is available as a Department of Defense SkillBridge program, an entrepreneurial apprenticeship, and a civilian internship track.
What You’ll Do
Veterinary Practice Operations
Learn how to structure and operate a profitable veterinary business
Understand licensing, compliance, insurance, and regulatory frameworks
Build service models for small animal, large animal, farm, and exotic care
Develop mobile veterinary response strategies for rural and agricultural communities
Design on-call emergency systems for livestock and specialty animal services
Entrepreneurial Business Development
Create a full veterinary business plan including revenue modeling and startup budgeting
Learn pricing strategy, service bundling, and recurring revenue programs
Develop vendor relationships for pharmaceuticals, feed suppliers, and equipment
Understand financing options, SBA programs, and capital acquisition strategies
Build hiring frameworks for vet techs, office managers, and field support teams
Community On-Call Leadership
Design 24 hour response systems for farm and ranch clients
Create partnership programs with local farms, breeders, and animal rescue groups
Learn crisis response coordination for disease outbreaks or animal emergencies
Position yourself as the trusted community veterinarian and regional expert
Marketing, Branding, and Media Presence
Build your personal brand as a veterinarian entrepreneur
Develop a website, appointment funnel, and CRM workflow

Requirements
Veterinary student, licensed veterinarian, or transitioning military medical professional
Interest in entrepreneurship and practice ownership

Ability to attend mandatory virtual meetings
