Summer 2026 Paid Internship Program

18 hours per week | $11.00/hour

The Morgan Conservatory is seeking Garden Interns and one Social Media & Operations Intern for Summer 2026. These paid internships provide hands-on experience within a working paper studio and nonprofit arts organization.

Interns gain exposure to plant-to-paper processes, papermaking, book arts, letterpress printing, and arts administration while contributing meaningfully to daily operations.

 

Position 1: Garden Internship (Plant-to-Paper Focus)

Responsibilities:

Mulching, weeding, and pruning Kozo trees

Watering and irrigation monitoring

Lawn and garden maintenance

Planting and tending fiber plants

Assisting with harvesting and fiber preparation

Supporting installation/maintenance of a Native Plant & Rain Garden

Professional Development:

Weekly studio training in papermaking (Western & Eastern methods)

Instruction in marbling, bookbinding, and letterpress

Completion of a small independent project

 

Position 2: Social Media & Operations Internship

Responsibilities:

Assisting with Instagram and social media content

Photographing studio activity and events

Drafting captions and short communications

Supporting office organization and administrative tasks

Assisting with store inventory and online listings

Helping prepare for exhibitions and public programs

Professional Development:

Weekly studio training in papermaking, marbling, bookbinding, and letterpress

Completion of a documented portfolio project

Final presentation to staff

 

Qualifications

Must have completed sophomore year of college by June 2026

Strong communication skills

Reliable, organized, and punctual

Ability to commit to 18 hours per week for the full 10-week period

Garden interns must be comfortable performing outdoor physical labor

No prior papermaking experience required.
