Planning Intern – City of Andover, MN

The City of Andover (population 32,000+) is seeking a motivated Planning Intern to join its Planning Department for the summer 2026 season. This internship offers hands-on experience in municipal planning, including code enforcement, responding to planning and zoning inquiries, and assisting with staff reports for the Planning Commission and City Council.

This position is ideal for students pursuing a degree in urban planning, urban studies, public administration, or landscape architecture who are interested in a future career in planning. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Prior municipal or public administration experience is preferred.

The internship runs approximately May through September 2026, with a 32–40 hour per week commitment. Compensation ranges from $20.00–$22.00 per hour, depending on experience.
