Grant Writing Intern – Unpaid

Impactful Education is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding literacy, digital learning, and civic engagement through community‑rooted education initiatives. We are seeking a Grant Writing Intern to support our summer fundraising efforts and help strengthen the organization’s ability to secure funding for high‑impact programs.

Position Overview:

The Grant Writing Intern will assist with researching funding opportunities, drafting proposal materials, preparing narratives, and supporting donor communication. Because this role requires specialized writing skills, we can only accept applicants with prior experience in grant writing or related writing disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research grant opportunities and eligibility requirements
  • Draft and edit grant proposals, concept notes, and project descriptions
  • Assist with writing organizational background and program narratives
  • Format and prepare supporting documents for submissions
  • Maintain a grant tracker and help organize deadlines
  • Support donor communication and reporting as needed
  • Attend weekly check‑ins and meet established deadlines

Required Skills & Experience

To ensure a meaningful internship experience, only candidates with prior relevant experience should apply.
Applicants must have experience in at least one of the following:

  • Grant writing (school, internship, job, or volunteer work)
  • Nonprofit proposal development
  • Fundraising communications
  • Academic or professional writing requiring structured argument, research, or narrative development
  • Preparing project summaries, concept notes, or similar documents

Important Eligibility and Commitment Requirements

  • To ensure the quality and continuity of the internship, we kindly ask that only candidates with prior relevant experience apply
  • Additionally, because the internship depends on consistent support, interns must be able to commit to the full duration of the program, from June 22 to August 29. Please note that we cannot accommodate interns who start and leave midway, as this would disrupt ongoing work and team continuity.
  • This is a voluntary and unpaid internship offered for the duration of the Summer Program. In return, the intern will gain practical experience in Grant Writing for an active nonprofit organization, contribute directly to a high-impact educational initiative, receive mentorship and professional feedback, and obtain a formal letter of recommendation upon successful completion.

Please note that candidates are welcome to explore other roles within the organization, as you may be eligible for positions that better match your background and skill set.
