About Conservation Corps North Carolina (CCNC)
The mission of Conservation Corps North Carolina (CCNC) is to empower young adults through meaningful outdoor work that benefits North Carolina’s land and water and creates healthy communities. CCNC is a program of Conservation Legacy that partners with public land managers in North Carolina to engage motivated young adults (ages 18-30) to complete challenging and impactful conservation service projects throughout the region. These projects aim to be meaningful, respectful, goal oriented, and work for the betterment of the land and for the future of conservation.

Position Summary
This AmeriCorps position will support the Blue Ridge Parkway’s communication team by creating and compiling multimedia content for the Blue Ridge Parkway, with a focus on the Parkway’s motorcycle safety campaign.
Description of Duties
This position will:
- support the development of a wide variety of communications strategies focused on park projects and national messaging priorities such as: motorcycle safety*, road safety, park improvements, visitor impacts, high impact projects, and natural resource management issues through creative content development.
- develop a searchable media library for existing and new media files
- identify gaps in the park’s photo and video files.
- create content in areas that need further development.
*Note: Interns will participate in project team with NPS law enforcement and risk management professionals to support goals of a two-year motorcycle safety campaign, Rule the Ridge, designed to provide targeted messaging promoting motorcycle safety for a vulnerable Parkway user group.
Schedule
This position is held within the standard work week of Monday-Friday, 40 hours a week, with a possibility of occasional weekend shifts.
Position Locations
Two (2) positions are available at the following site. There will be travel throughout the term to various locations on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Blue Ridge Parkway – National Park Service. Park headquarters/office location in Asheville, NC.
Minimum Requirements
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate a vehicle
- Must have familiarity and/or experience with Adobe Creative Suite, cameras/photography, film editing, graphic design, social media strategies, and photo organizing.
- Must be able to conduct field work involving hiking and carrying equipment as well as the ability to occasionally use hand tools and/or light machinery.
- Must be willing to travel frequently
- Must have the flexibility to work varying shifts and participate in overnight stays
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of best practices in content creation and photo file organization.
- Independent planning, data organization, record-keeping, and resourcefulness in the absence of on-site supervision
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions from supervisors and co-workers.
- Effective communication skills – both written and orally with supervisors, co-workers, division personnel, and occasionally with public interaction.
- Ability to complete tasks within designated timeframes.
- Ability to navigate remote settings with maps, written directions, and/or GPS.
- Excellent proficiency of the English language and the ability to convey information orally and in writing clearly and concisely.
- Ability to analyze and present information in required formats as well as written summaries and reports of results.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, database software, Adobe Creative Suite, Hootsuite, and Canva.
- Ability to effectively display data and themes in creative digital content and messaging. These teams will also be working closely together so interpersonal skills, communication, and problem-solving skills will be especially important to maintain.

Living Allowance: $600/week (pre-tax)
